Content Guidelines

We're looking for pieces that resonate with physicians and healthcare professionals navigating the complexity of modern medicine

Appropriate Topics

  • Clinical reflections and personal experiences — Stories from clinical experiences or training that illuminate broader truths about medical education or patient care
  • Healthcare system observations — Frontline perspectives on inefficiencies, broken processes, or system-level issues
  • Professional development insights — Career navigation, skill-building, or lessons learned in practice
  • Work-life balance perspectives — Honest reflections on sustainability, burnout, or finding meaning in medicine

Voice & Tone

Write colleague-to-colleague. Keep it simple, conversational, and direct. No fluff or filler — every sentence should have a purpose.

Structure

Start with a strong hook. Keep paragraphs short (1-3 sentences). Build momentum: problem → analysis → why it matters → reflections or solutions.

Length

Target 600-900 words. Long enough to develop an idea, short enough to respect busy readers.

AI Use Policy

We encourage the use of AI tools to help draft, refine, and edit your writing. However, the final piece must reflect your original voice, structure, and perspective. AI should assist your thinking, not replace it. Your clinical experience and personal perspective should shine through every paragraph.

What We're NOT Looking For

  • Generic advice or platitudes
  • Overly academic or research-heavy pieces (save those for journals)
  • Sales pitches or promotional content
  • Hot takes without substance or thoughtful analysis
